USports Ball Control Metrics

USports basketball in Canada (Men’s and Women’s) differentiates metrics into two different categories with a couple of stats spanning both. The two categories are Shooting and Ball Control, in this post we will be covering of what USports classifies as Ball Control metrics.

GP (Games Played): The number of games played

GS (Games Started): The number of games started by the player

MIN (Minutes Played): The number of minutes played by a player or team

MIN AVG (Minutes Per Game): The number of minutes played by a player per game

Calculation: MIN / GP

OFF (Offensive Rebounds): The number of rebounds a player or team has collected while they were on offense

DEF (Defensive Rebounds): The number of rebounds a player or team has collected while they were on defense

TOT REB (Total Rebounds): Total number of rebounds a player or team has collected on either offense or defense

Calculation: OFF + DEF

REB AVG (Rebounds Per Game): The number of rebounds by a player per game

Calculation: TOT REB / GP

PF (Personal Fouls): The number of personal fouls a player or team committed

DQ (Disqualifications): The number of disqualifications a player has

A (Assists): The number of assists – passes that lead directly to a made basket – by a player

A/G (Assists Per Game): The number of assists by a player per game

Calculation: A / GP

TO (Turnovers): A turnover occurs when the player or team on offense loses the ball to the defense

TO/G (Turnovers Per Game): The number of turnovers by a player per game

Calculation: TO / GP

A/TO (Assists to Turnovers): The number of assists of a player vs. the number of turnovers

Calculation: A / TO

BLK (Blocks): A block occurs when an offensive player attempts a shot, and the defense player tips the ball, blocking their chance to score

BLK/G (Blocks Per Game): The number of blocks by a player per game

Calculation: BLK / GP

STL (Steals): Number of times a defensive player or team takes the ball from a player on offense, causing a turnover

STL/G (Steals Per Game): The number of steals by a player per game

Calculation: STL / GP
